Maybe more than James Bond.
See with James Bond, you have one major issue. You have two main James Bond's to choose from. Do you want the debonair perfectly coiffed James Bond of the Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan days? Or do you want the Daniel Craig variety, where he gets down and dirty? See, I like both of them but theres something very beautiful about Jason Bourne that the other two don't have.
See, with Jason Bourne almost everything he does (at least film wise) is motivated by instinct. He doesn't do it for the girls and country (as original James Bond does,) to rebel or for pure revenge (as new James Bond does,) Jason Bourne is motivated by understanding. He wants to know, in the beginning, who he is. Then he wants to know why they're after him. His whole mission in life seems to be a combination of survival and knowledge.
I have also read the Bourne books, as opposed to the Ian Fleming version of Bond, so that might slightly sway my love. And I have a love of ultraviolence on screen-cheap action fare.
So in the Bourne Supremacy, when Jason Bourne beats a guy with a rolled up magazine? OH MY GOD. I thought it was the greatest moment ever. When he and that guy get in a fight in The Boune Ultimatum? oh jesus that was amazing. And one of my favorite quotes of all time is in the Bourne Identity, when he explains to his future girlfriend how he could get out of the situation if he needed to without any effort. OH MY GOD.
Does James Bond do that? No. He does parkour occasionally in Casino Royale, but jump out of a balcony after being shot several times and ending up in a cold river? No. Jason Bourne is just badass.
I am also currently watching the Bourne Supremacy. And I love it greatly. Even though the best one is still the Bourne Identity and I seriously love everything about it. I need more thinking mans action movies.
